History

In December of 1978, immediately after law school, Kevin Moriarty went to work in the Johnson County District Attorney’s office where he worked for 5 years before going into private practice for the next 20 years.  In the 25 years before becoming a District Court Judge in Johnson County, Kansas, Kevin had over 100 jury trials throughout Kansas, Missouri, and the Federal District Court in Kansas.  In addition to the jury trials, he had hundreds of trials to the court in numerous jurisdictions and was an AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell while in private practice. 

Kevin was a District Court Judge for over 15 years before retiring to do mediation. While on the bench, he presided over hundreds of trials to the court, held thousands of other hearings, and had many jury trials of all sorts.  He sat on every docket as a judge and understand the complexities and personalities of the varying dockets. While sitting as a District Court Judge, Kevin handled over 1000 mediations involving criminal, probate, personal injury, medical and legal malpractice, construction, commercial, business dissolution, divorce, and employment litigation. He was honored to be elected by the other District Court Judges to be the Chief Judge from January 1, 2014 until January 1, 2018.
